Utility Information
The Colorado River Municipal Water District supplies water for Odessa through well and reservoir sources. With a daily treatment capacity of 65,000,000 GPD and a daily pumping capacity of 65,000,000 GPD. There is overhead storage capacity of 6,000,000 MG, with 14,000,000 MG stored in the ground.
The Colorado River Municipal Water District is planning to build a 45 mile pipeline that will pump water from the Ward County well fields to its distribution center in Odessa. The pipeline is projected to produce 30 million gallons of water daily. Construction should begin in February 2012 and be completed in December 2012.
Gulf Coast Waste Disposal Authority's Odessa South Wastewater Treatment Facility is permitted to treat an average of 5.6 million gallons of industrial wastewater per day and currently has significant excess capacity available.
Odessa is fortunate to have two power plants. PSEG operates a 1,000 megawatt natural gas-fired electric power generating plant amd Constellation Energy is a 550 megawatt gas-fired power plant on Interstate 20.
