The Odessa Development Corp. is set to hear another report from Texas Tech University’s National Institute of Renewable Energy and Texas Wind Energy Institute at its 2 p.m. Thursday meeting in the third floor conference room of Odessa City Hall.

ODC to review contract on JBS expansion

The Odessa Development Corp. will discuss a $1.6 million contract to help fund the expansion of JBS Parkway into the Industrial Business Park at its meeting Thursday.

The ODC board voted at its April 21 meeting to commit to expand JBS Parkway into the industrial park subject to an acceptable contract.

ODC to hear another wind presentation

The Odessa Development Corp. will hear a second presentation from a Texas Tech University official about a wind energy program for West Texas.

David Miller, Texas Tech vice chancellor for commercialization, is expected to discuss the school’s National Wind Resource Center, which is part of an effort to lure more wind energy manufacturing to West Texas.

Precision buys Duoline property

Precision Lining Systems LLC has completed the purchase of 20 acres at 9019 N. West County Road in Odessa. The company plans to market and sell fiberglass lining systems made by Duoline Technologies, the company selling Precision the facility.

Precision Lining plans to keep full employment at the site. According to a news release, Duoline will maintain an active manufacturing facility in Odessa, even as it expands operations in East Texas.

The Odessa Development Corp. board will consider a grant to a group of companies looking to buy a facility another company recently moved out of.

Sales Tax Numbers Increase

After 13 months of belt tightening and budget cuts, Odessa finally received a sales check that was higher than the one received the same month a year before.

For the month of May, Odessa received a sales tax check of $2,403,471.24. The total amount is up 5.21 percent from May 2009’s check of $2,284,534.36.

"It’s a good number for us," Assistant City Manager James Zentner said. "I was not expecting that increase yet, so I’m very pleased with that."

Odessa's February check of $2,912,173.36 rose 12.28 percent from February 2008. The city of Odessa will pocket $2,329,738 of the check, while the Odessa Development Corp. will get $582,434.
